The Field Museum
We love to visit all of the museums here in Chicago. It does not matter how many times we go we learn something new. A few weeks ago when Grandma Judy came for a visit we took her to the museum. The first place we visited was the underground adventure. It does not matter how many times we have been through this display it never seems to get boring. You start the adventure by going through a shrinking machine. It shrinks you down even littler than a penny as you can tell from this picture. You than get to explore the world underground. This is the part that always grosses me out!!! Soil is jam-packed with an abundance of living things. A single teaspoonful of soil is home to more than a billion organisms. Just how many critters might you find in a spoonful of soil? Bacteria and protozoans—around 1 billion Nematode worms—300 Springtails—15 Mites—20 Pseudoscorpions—1.
