Another Day in Lori’s Loony Life

It all started as a calm wonderful Saturday morning.  Eddie arrived the night before and we started the morning out with a great hike in the mountains.  It was a beautiful day.

We then went to introduce Eddie to Tennyson.  012

We even read him his first story.

039

From there we went to Mimi’s for a bite to eat.  While we were eating a police officer walked in and arrested a guy sitting at a table near us.  From there we took Tennyson to see his first movie, Ironman 2.  Before the show started the police had to come take a man out for fighting over seats. After we decided we needed a chocolate fix so we went and bought really yummy cupcakes.  Of course you can not have chocolate without milk so we drank Mike and Nichelle’s all while playing Killer Bunnies.  It had been a long day so we decided to run to the Smith’s down the block to get our supplies for Mother’s Day Breakfast and to replace the milk we just drank.

Eddie was really getting into filling the cart with all kinds of goodies to cook us the next morning.  About half way through the store he told me he would be right back as he had to go use the restroom.  At this point I was trying to pick out just the right brand of syrup.  I pulled my phone out of my pocket for some reason and heard Shaylin laughing, I guess I pocket dialed her.  As I hung up Eddie was returning up the aisle.  I began asking him what type of syrup we should get when we heard a loud “POP,POP,POP” we thought is was the balloons at the front of the store popping.  But as we looked up towards the front we saw everyone diving to the floor.  At that point we decided it was a gun and we better start moving.  as we were running down the aisle towards the back we heard “POP, POP, Pop…..Pop,Pop,Pop,Pop!”  We were yelling gun to the people in the back trying to figure out what was going on.  The loud speaker at this point came on telling us it was a gun and to get down.  We decided our best beat was to keep running towards the back door through the meat locker.  As we ran out the back and across the street another guy came running at us with a gun.  (He turned out to be a good guy trying to protect us.)  At this point there were sirens going off all around us.  We had no idea what was going on.  After a few minutes we decided it would be best to walk back to Nichelle’s and get our car in the front of the store later. It was sad as we walked to think that we had no idea if and how many people were hurt or killed.  It was a very sobering moment.

It turned out to be a man stealing a beer, running from security, beating security, being tasered by the police, pulling a gun out and being shot dead numerous times.  It was an experience that is hard to explain….the thoughts an emotions that go through your mind are hard to describe.

Needless to say we decided we should leave Provo and come back to Chicago were we could be safe.

One Week and Still No Baby

CIMG0004

I have now been in Utah for a week and Tennyson still has not made his grand entrance.  Besides graduation we have all just been buying time until he arrives.  The first day I got here I went and saw what changes have been made to Grandma Stringham’s house.  Golda and Susan have been busy painting and making it their own.  I wonder what we will end up referring to this house as?

On Wednesday I picked up Mike’s favorite Costco cake for dinner.  He made us some yummy hot dogs.  I did not realize until I got to the cash register that the cake was a little crooked.  It just keep getting worse.  This is what it looked like when it looked good.

On Thursday it snowed.  Yes, it snowed on Tennyson’s due date. We ate graduation lunch at Tucano’s.  They bring meat around to your table on big skewers and you basically just pig out!

Being the typical Utah spring the snow turned into a beautiful sunny day.  So we went for a game of putt putt golf.  I actually got 3 hole in one shots, but I still did not win:(

Tennyson even helped Nichelle out.

On Friday we went to Mike’s graduation.  It was good but long.  It took about an hour and a half to read all of the names.  He looked very handsome in his cap and gown.  It was a proud day.

On Saturday I spent the day at a parenting class.  It was an excellent training!!  For more information you can click here

On Sunday I went to Nichelle and Mike’s ward and then they made dinner.  It was yummy Italian Chicken.  The brought it over to Carol’s to eat.  They then taught me how to play the game Munchkins.

This morning I went out with my Mom.  We went to some bookstores and out to eat. We even went by the Bundt Cake Shop and bought some yummy dessert for tonight.  Tomorrow morning I am going to the temple with my Mom. We are then going to twirl our thumbs a little longer until we help Tennyson make his debut on Wednesday.  My next post will be pictures of my grandbaby!!!!!!

Easter

008 006 012

The morning started with a little egg decorating.

007 013

I got the official dying job. I even did my traditional sun and lion. Yeah me!!!

We then watched conference and had a little dinner.

020 021

We had ham, green bean casserole and funeral potatoes.  I was all excited to have Lion House Rolls that Nichelle and Mike gave me for Christmas.  I even had yummy homemade orange honey butter.  I had been looking forward to eating it for weeks.  When I got it out to make it I realized I had no yeast..I threw it out when I got the new fridge.  Dang!!!!!

027 029

We then had the traditional scavenger  hunt for Easter baskets.  Eddie made the clues really hard this year so we even had to call Shaylin for some helpful tips.

Finally success!!!!!

Mike told us we had to eat the bunny butts first this year. So we did!!

Another Moment in Lori’s Lonny Life

We went to Nauvoo the other day and the kids really wanted to go into the school house to show their Dad how smart they were. They did pretty good on figuring out the phonetically spelled words. Then came the hard part ….math. So they each have a little chalk board to help them figure the problem out. The teacher starts with “there were 350 brick houses in Nauvoo” At this point Amanda needs to come sit by me so she knows what 350 looks like “There were 650 wood framed so write down 650” At this point Josh erases the 3 in 350 and changes it to a six to make 650. “There are 2,500 cabins. How many houses were in Nauvoo?” At this point the adding begins….Amanda is still trying to figure out what the numbers look like. Josh is trying his hardest to add even though 1 plus 6 plus 3 plus 5 equals 3. And Ashley was just pretending to be deep in thought erasing the whole time thinking we would not notice. Needless to say after Eddie and I rolled in hysterics we now really realize what we have.. All this after just finishing laughing because the lady asked what is Ohio known for and Ashley blurted out as fast as she could“Potatoes!”

(This picture is to remind us how old they really are)
